this has happened to us...maybe not to this extreme though! ;)

Some good news...
Great News...
1. Jamie got on as intern at our church, Hope Community, until December. He'll be working with small groups. Now, we'll just continue to pray God will open a door for full-time ministry in the Spring.
Breeson...
2. slept for 7 hours straight last night.
3. didn't cry when he took a bath (new thing: Jamie sits in the bath with him, so we'll no longer be taking "bath-time" pictures for obvious reasons!!)

as of late...
Breeson is 3 months today! He's in the 97 percentile in both height and weight. I think he's around 15 lbs right now. On Saturday he started really giggling in response to our actions. His eye contact with us is becoming stronger too. He's becoming so much more fun. He has moved out of his colicky stage. PRAISE GOD! However, he still has his fussy moments, like any baby does. Sleeping through the night has not yet happened; although, he has stretched his sleeping time up to 6 hour stretches on various nights.
On Saturday, my dear friend, Jenny, was flying from Kansas back to her home in Wyoming and had a layover in Denver. I went to the airport and hung out w/ her and her baby boy, Levi for a couple hours. Jenny and I were childhood friends and now get to share the experience of motherhood at the same time. It was funny to see the difference in personalities of our babies. Levi is a calm, cool, laid-back kid, whereas Breeson "expressed" his moods quite a bit at the airport...as you can see by the pic's!!!

Another Dollar Saved
Yesterday, I signed Jamie and I up to be VIP (Very Important Pickle) members at Spicy Pickle. Yum, I love their food!!
When you sign up, they will send you a free coupon for your birthday. Much to my surprise, they also sent us a coupon for "1 Free Entree" each, just for signing up. So last night, Jamie and I ate for $2.85 (b/c we each got a drink).
Another dollar saved...
p.s. thanks for all of the words of encouragement and advice re: the post below. I do hope and pray this is just a phase/growth spurt for Breeson. Last night was a bit better; he slept in 4 hours increments! :)

is this normal?!
Ever since Breeson was born, he's been a pretty good sleeper. "Good" meaning he would sleep the minimum of 3 hours. I don't know how those mothers do it when their baby only does 1-2 hours between feedings!?!? I'm very thankful Breeson has been consistent in that area. For the last couple of months, he's actually been pretty regular in going in 4 hour spurts during the night. And in the last couple of weeks, he's been stretching his sleep time 5-6 hours. But out of no where, the last couple of nights, he's reverted back to sleeping 3 hours between feedings. Going to sleep at around 9 p.m., wakes up at 12 midnight, then again at 3ish. :(
I like to think of it as he wants more "mommy time". But I doubt that's really the case.
What I want to know is, is this normal?
Do babies jump back and forth?
Should I not feed him when he wakes up so that he won't get used to it?
Could this be the case of him going thru a growth spurt?

Saving Money!!!
I bought $110 worth of gift certificates to different restaurants Jamie and I like to frequent thru www.restaurant.com for a TOTAL of $9. How, you might ask?? I was browsing thru a blog I like to read here and there when I noticed a post about saving money.
The tip was that thru today (August 13th), they will drop 80% of the cost at the Checkout.
The way Restaurant.com works is, a $25 Gift Certificate to a restaurant only costs you $10. Which is in itself a great deal. They have other variations ($10 gift certificate for $4, or $50 gift certificate for $20, etc...). Thru today, when you type in "PORTION" when you checkout, they automatically discount the certificate by 80%!!!! So for one particular restaurant, I got a $25 gift certificate for $10, but then with the added discount, it went down to $2. The only catch is, you have to use it within the year of purchasing it, and the minimum order has to be $35. But with the certificate only costing $2 and the $10 difference, we're still saving a lot of $$moo-lah$$
YEAH for savings.

becoming the norm
It's not uncommon now for me to fall asleep during Breeson's 1-2 o'clock feeding in the morning. It's happened a couple of times where I've started feeding him at 2ish, and before I realize it, I look at the clock and it's almost 3 or even after. The funny thing is, I wake up and look at the clock and realize I've been sleeping for over an hour in the rocking chair, but then look down at him and he's also sound asleep in my lap. I'm sure it'd be quite the sight to see if anyone walked in; which I'm glad no one does for obvious reasons. :-)

2 years
At 4:13 p.m., 2 years ago on this date, Jamie and I said our "I do's". It's funny how time plays tricks on us into thinking it seems so long ago, yet at the same time it feels like yesterday. The journey has been wonderful, challenging, joyful, hard and rewarding; mostly wonderful though!!
On that day, I married a wonderful, Godly man. Jamie's heart is full of great intention that fully thrives on serving HIM, as well as those around him.
I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful husband who doesn't mind doing the "little things" in life (like fixing me dinner, changing Breeson's diapers, and the list goes on...) to help me out. He is such a servant!
At the same time, he's passionate about his faith truly desires to walk closely with our Savior. His example leads our family.
August of 2007 was definitely a month that had a lot of changes. We moved from Alabama to Colorado. We got married in Kansas between the move. We had a quick honeymoon in California, then finished our move to Colorado where Jamie started Grad school and I started a new job. Since then, life has brought us a whirlwind of events. We now have a sweet baby boy that has changed our lives forever!!
This was us then...

Bath Time
Ever since Breeson was born, he has NEVER liked baths. It's a bit disheartening when I see friends' pictures of their babies enjoying their bath time (eh-hm, Ashley, Jaclyn, Jenny, and everyone else out in the world!!). Here a few pic's of Breeson sharing his feelings on what he thinks about bath time. I tend to believe that as a boy, he is starting at a young age to not like them. Also, below is a short video that will give you a better idea on how much he dislikes them. And yes...we go through this EVERY night. :(
Immediately after we take him out of the water, he instantly calms down. Of course, only to scream again when I get out the lotion.

Swartz Reunion
On Friday afternoon, we drove to Western Kansas for my late-Grandfather's family reunion. To be honest, we only went b/c my parents, Grandma, and an Aunt/Uncle that I never get to see were also there. Since it was only 3 hours away, we decided to take the short drive and see them.
Here's a few pic's...

Sharon Springs, Kansas
We are headed to Western Kansas today for a family reunion on my Grandma's side of the family. Sharon Springs, KS to be exact. According to Wikipedia, the 2000 census gave the town population of 885. Not far from it is Mt. Sunflower. Although it's not actually a mountain, it is the highest point in Kansas, which is funny because it's next to the lowest point in Colorado. It is 4,039 feet.
Check out the picture of the "Summit" below: :)
For all you adventurous vacationers out there, if you are looking for the perfect get-away...I think you need to check out Sharon Springs. ;) We'll let you know how our stay is at the Oak Tree Inn!!! Giddy-up.

so bad...but so good!
These tasty little coffee treats were brought over by our friends, Armando and Sara last night. They come from Costa Rica. However, I should've known not to eat coffee treats before bed. After Breeson's 1:30 a.m. feeding I didn't go back to bed. :( Needless to say, I got a lot of Thank You cards written; I've been needing to get that done for awhile. I did catch a quick nap on the couch sometime around 5ish, only to be abruptly woken by a screaming child b/c he had a wet diaper. Ugh.
Anyways, if you want to buy these, you can order them from Costa Rica here.
They really are good. I guess I didn't help that I inhaled/snarfed about 10 of them down in a matter of minutes.
